ABOUT

Clive D’Angelo-Smith
Owner & Founder of Four Seasons Catering
at the ripe old age of 12, Clive knew it’s where his passion belonged.
It was just meant to be, his parents, Denise & Steve, met whilst working in a Kenilworth hotel kitchen!
Clive begged his parents to allow him to seek further catering tuition outside of school hours.
He quickly got involved with junior chef courses at the prestigious Henley College, Coventry.
Upon leaving Bluecoat C of E School, Clive started working at the Hotel of the year for the Midlands in 1999,
Coombe Abbey Country Park & Medieval Hotel, and enrolled back at Henley College to do his NVQ’s.
During his time at college, Clive successfully completed NVQ Levels 1,2 & 3 in Kitchen, Bar & Restaurant.
He also studied the British Innkeepers Institute Course & Completed the final examination.
After completing his studies, Clive moved around Cardiff, Bath & Gloucestershire, gaining experience in a number of high end restaurants, gastro pubs & a Vineyard. During this time, he met his soon to become wife, Lucy.
They have been married for over 10 years now and have 3 beautiful children, Charley, Ella & Tommy.
Lucy occasionally helps out on the larger functions serving, and now in The Halfway House too,
whilst both Charley & Ella, enjoy baking cakes with their dad most Sundays, whilst Tommy makes loads of mess!!!
It was in 2006, Clive met and worked for Conrad Lynton Jenkins. Conrad became somewhat of a mentor to Clive,
and still to this day works closely with Clive, giving him sound advice and great knowledge on his business’s.
Clive worked for Conrad in two separate ventures between 2006-2010 and then again from 2012-2018.
Cherry Picked Catering in Bristol was built on the strong reputation Conrad had gained over the years,
and Clive helped Conrad continue this.
In 2008, 1 week after Clive and Lucys wedding in the Dominican Republic, Clive was filmed in the first series of
Masterchef:The Professionals. Clive got through to the last 32 from over 5000 applications.
Although not going through in his heat, Clive received a great honour from Michel Roux Jnr,
by telling him that his duck breast was cooked to absolute perfection!
Between 2010 & 2012, Clive became Head chef at the brand new Ffos Las Racecourse in West Wales.
The main restaurant at the racecourse, won a prestigious award late in 2010. Best restaurant at a racecourse,
some achievement when you consider the other prestigious racecourses across the UK.
In 2018, Clive was offered a position with a large catering company in Cardiff, Cleverchefs.
As Business Development Chef, Clive helped forge new relationships with
new contracts in South Wales, Bristol & Berkshire.
At the start of 2019, Clive decided to live out his life long ambition &
set up his own catering company, something that the whole family could be part of.
He used his wealth of experience & knowledge gained from working in the industry for the last 20 years & took the plunge.
2020 became a year in which Clive overcame ever hurdle thrown at him. Every change in restriction, forced him into making drastic changes, after losing most of the business he had managed to get booked in his 1st year of business. 5000 Afternoon tea boxes, 1000 Sunday lunch deliveries later, amongst other things, Four Seasons Catering had become a popular name across South Wales.
After surviving that most turbulent time in business,, Clive forged a new relationship with The Aber Hotel, in Abertridwr. A restaurant which gained huge a Sunday lunch was born.
In 2021, Fine Dine with Clive was formed. Clive takes fine dining into peoples homes. He loves this side to the business, he can show his flair and passion whilst cooking and serving to all his guests.
2023 saw Clive go into partnership with his friend & prestigious supplier of meat, Chris Hayman. A talented, Carcass led butcher from Maesycwmmer. They had both been on the look out for a property for a number of years, The Halfway house became available in May. 1 Viewing later and they were both set on making it happen. Fast forward to October, and they now have a revamped pub with quality food.
Clive’s greatest feeling is;
“When I see people enjoying eating my food, with big smiles on their faces, it gives me such a special feeling,
that I want to get back in the kitchen, to recreate and better that magical moment”
We look forward to providing you with an exceptional service very, very soon.
